Development of European positions towards the situation in Tunisia
France and Germany have shown a kind of supporting Tunisia, as on January 22, the French presidency clarified that President Emmanuel Macron affirmed during a telephone conversation with Tunisian president Kais Saied that Paris is always ready to support Tunisia in implementing reforms and implementing a “comprehensive” transitional phase.
Also, the German embassy in Tunisia announced on January 22, 2022 that Ambassador Peter Bruegel stressed during a conversation with Tunisian Finance Minister Siham Boughediri that "a loan of 100 million euros will be paid in the coming days as an expression of Germany's support for Tunisia in difficult times".
Both of French and Germany attitude reveal that they will support Tunisia during the exceptional critical period currently led by Tunisian President Kais Saied who is searching for greater opportunities to consolidate the path he has taken in order to restore political stability. "Saied" wants first to overcome economic - social challenges his government faces , which will help in preserving European interests in his country and guarantee the support of the big European actors. Second, he hopes that he can persuade European powers in general not to communicate with his political adversaries especially the islamists.
