In the Midst of tensions in the Gulf region, the United States has proposed forming a multinational naval coalition that aims to protect the strategic naval lanes, in reference to the straits of Hormuz and Bab El-Mandeb. This proposal was met by another initiative by the Europeans, specifically the British Foreign secretary “Jeremy Hunt”, and there has been an initial approval from several European countries. But both of these initiatives will face some obstacles to become a reality, either because of the fear of escalating the situation in the region and sparking a war “by accident”, or trying to stick with the de-escalation efforts.
